West Ham Academy / Youth?
What has happened to this, I was looking at our squad and Tomkins was the last player to come through and play regular premiership football for us and he is 25 i think. Collison, Sears, Hines and Stanislas were all hopes but went for one reason or another. I think we have a Category 1 status which is the highest possible yet no one has come through for years. I wonder why?

I ran youth football in for 10 years up until last year, and used to get scouts from every London club attending games, also from Norwich, Brighton, Southampton and even Villa.

Competition. Also clubs with money will come in and buy a 15 year old, Jordon Ibe from Wycombe to Liverpool for instance, Chelsea have 30 plus youngsters out on loan, including a few from East London, they have a kid from Marseilles they bought as a 12 year old, Moved the family over, job, house, the lot.

Even if they have all the promise in the world Our Manager will not give them a chance, he sticks with shit rather than try something new, that is one of the reasons i cannot stand him some days.
I have been shouting Elliot Lee for over one and a half seasons now for the sake of God could he be any worse than Cole ?

Re: West Ham Academy / Youth?
West Ham scouts looking for kids at a young age have fell in the trap as other catergory 1 status clubs have done, looking for 'Big/tall" who are not football gifted but then trying to teach them football or, getting foreign kids over, hence our National team will do rubbish over the next 15/20 years, it's all about money now, to become a West Ham scout now all you have to do is look for a tall kid, the good skillfull players that use to come through you'll see until things change.
